Clearly, 2020 is an unusual year for everything. The Dog Park is no exception. The Board has determined that we will not have our usual Fall Festival this year due to the COVID pandemic. The Fall Festival typically draws a crowd larger than what is advisable at this time.

That leaves us with a problem. The Fall Festival is one of our major fundraising events. In order to cover the costs of maintaining our turf surface, fulfilling our obligations as the Fairfax County Park Authority's partner in maintaining the park, and continuing our program of park improvements in 2021, we need to raise $15,000.

MAKE YOUR DONATION CHOICE BELOW
To replace the Fall Festival, we are conducting a virtual Fall Fundraising Campaign. A number of communication efforts are being used to let park users know that Fairfax County Park Authority only provides limited funds for the maintenance of the off-leash dog area at Westgrove Park. Turf maintenance, poop bags, clean-up, and capital improvements are paid for with private funds raised by Westgrove P.A.C.K.

We know how much our park users appreciate the park, and we know that these are difficult times for some of us. But we're asking those who are able to consider supporting this effort. While all donations are welcome, we suggest donors consider two possibilities:

Caretakers of Westgrove Park ($20, non-renewing)

An annual donation of $20 make you a Caretaker of Westgrove Park. You'll be added to our email list so you'll be informed about upcoming events and you'll qualify to participate in General Meetings with determine our budget priorities. You can donate by cash or check by contacting a Board Member in the park, or click the Donate button above to donate online.

Contributions to Westgrove P.A.C.K. are deductible under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Sustaining Caretakers (Choose amount, repeats monthly)

Recurring Donation
What is a Sustaining Caretaker?
A Sustaining Caretaker is a caretaker who makes a monthly donation to the PACK. Generally this is done by setting up an automatic payment thru your bank or PayPal. A caretaker can also send monthly payments without the aid of automation, or pay their 12 month pledge all at one time.

Why become a Sustaining Caretaker?
By being a Sustaining Caretaker, you allow the P.A.C.K. board and the caretakers to make strategic plans regarding the park's future projects without the burden of financial worry. By having a sustained income, not dependent on fundraisers, you allow the planning and funding of projects with the knowledge there will be funds to cover the projected costs. By having sustaining caretakers, we can plan projects that may take time to develop and complete. While we can achieve income by fundraisers, we never know what the monetary success will be. By being a sustaining caretaker, for as little as $10 a month, we can look forward to the park becoming a place for dogs and people to enjoy for many years to come.
