Rules

Patrons of the park are reminded that Fairfax County Park Authority has established rules for county dog parks (click here for a complete list). The most common complaints involve:
  1. Not picking up dog poop (click here for more info),
  2. Bringing more than two dogs into the park at a time (dogs must be adequately supervised),
  3. Bringing children under the age of 9 yrs old inside the dog area (which is potentially dangerous for the child).

While Westgrove P.A.C.K. does not have the legal authority to enforce these rules in specific cases, we do strongly encourage all park users to follow the rules.  Complaints about rules violations can be made directly to the Park Authority (click here) and FCPA staff or Fairfax County Police will handle enforcement.

Future Plans

The plan for new projects in the park is posted here. To share your comments with the Board, email westgrovepack@gmail.com.

Completed Projects

Fairfax County Park Authority has made drainage improvements in the small end of the park which should alleviate the mud problem, especially in the winter months.

A new water fixture has been installed in the large end of the park.  There is a button of the fixture which activates the dog fountain for dogs who prefer fresh running water.  Leftover water drains from the bowl to keep things sanitary.  There is also a tap to fill a bowl for dogs who prefer standing water.  There is a drain into which the bowl should be emptied regularly.  We are trying to eliminate standing water, which can breed disease.  There is also a stone area to catch splashes and prevent mud.  Please avoid dumping water in the grassy area and make sure if you use the tap to close it completely.

Navigational signs have been installed around the park fence to help users find dog droppings and other lost items.  When you see your dog doing his business, take note of what number or letter he is between so you can find your way there after getting a bag.  Thank you for keeping our park clean and healthy.

Park improvements are approved by the Fairfax County Park Authority, and funded by the Caretakers of Westgrove PACK.  Thank you for your patience and support as we continue to improve the park.
